Acceptance
These Terms of Use form an agreement between the user and Robert Prest, operating as The Paramedic Playbook.
By accessing applicable website content, creating an account, purchasing access, or otherwise using the service, the user agrees to comply with these Terms.
Users who do not agree should not use the service.
Age
Paid accounts and account-based features are restricted to persons 18 years of age or older.
Educational Purpose
The Paramedic Playbook is an independent educational resource intended primarily for paramedics, paramedic students, educators, and healthcare learners. It is provided for educational purposes only.
It is not:
- medical advice
- official clinical direction
- Base Hospital direction
- a replacement for Ontario Patient Care Standards
- a replacement for service policy
- a substitute for clinical judgment
- an official certification program
- a guarantee of examination, employment, certification, or clinical outcomes
Users are responsible for consulting current official standards and requirements applicable to their own practice.
Non-Affiliation
The Paramedic Playbook is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, approved by, authorized by, or acting on behalf of:
- Ontario Ministry of Health
- any Ontario Base Hospital Program or Regional Base Hospital
- any paramedic service
- any municipality
- any college or university
- any regulatory, credentialing, examination, or certifying organization
- any provincial or federal government organization
- any other organization unless expressly stated
References to those organizations or materials do not imply affiliation or endorsement.
Clinical Information Changes
Clinical standards, directives, evidence, medication information, policies, and guidance can change. Reasonable efforts may be made to keep the website current, but The Paramedic Playbook does not guarantee that every page will always reflect the latest official source.
Users must verify clinical information against current official sources before applying it to patient care.
Accuracy
The Paramedic Playbook does not guarantee that its content is always complete, continuously current, error-free, applicable to every patient, or applicable outside Ontario. Possible errors may be reported to theparamedicplaybook@gmail.com.
International Users
The website is primarily Ontario-focused. Users outside Ontario are responsible for determining whether the information is appropriate for their jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms waives legal rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
Free Preview
Selected content may be available as a free preview without an account. Free-preview content remains subject to these Terms, the Medical & Educational Disclaimer, intellectual-property restrictions, and copying restrictions. Preview content may change over time.
Accounts
Accounts are for one individual user only. Users may not share login credentials, share one subscription among coworkers or classmates, sell or transfer an account, or provide institutional/group access through a personal account.
Paid Plans
The website may offer monthly subscription, annual subscription, and lifetime access. Actual price and material billing information must be shown before purchase.
Automatic Renewal
Monthly and annual subscriptions may renew automatically until cancelled. The renewal status and frequency must be clearly disclosed before purchase.
Cancellation
Recurring subscriptions may be cancelled through the account/billing interface. Cancellation normally prevents future renewal while access continues until the end of the current paid billing period.
Plan Changes
Where technically supported, users may switch between monthly and annual subscriptions through the billing interface.
Lifetime Access
“Lifetime Access” means access for as long as The Paramedic Playbook continues to operate and offer the purchased service.
It does not mean the biological lifetime of the user, guaranteed perpetual operation, guaranteed uninterrupted uptime, guaranteed permanent availability of every feature, or ownership of site content.
Price Changes
Future prices may change. Existing prepaid periods are not retroactively repriced. Where appropriate, users should receive advance notice before a new recurring renewal price takes effect.
Refunds
Except where required by law or expressly stated otherwise, payments are non-refundable once paid access has been activated and made available.
Monthly subscriptions generally do not receive prorated refunds for the current billing period. Annual subscriptions generally do not receive prorated refunds for unused months. Lifetime-access purchases are generally non-refundable once access is activated. Cancellation stops future renewal but does not itself create a refund right.
Duplicate charges, billing errors, or genuine inability to provide purchased access may be corrected or refunded as appropriate. Nothing in this policy limits rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Payment Processing
Payments may be handled by a third-party payment processor. The active provider and its terms will be identified when production checkout is finalized.
Intellectual Property
The website contains a combination of original educational writing, original explanations, original organization and presentation, original diagrams, scenarios, question banks, site design, official wording where appropriate, and referenced third-party material.
Original material created for The Paramedic Playbook remains protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Official and third-party material remains owned by its respective rights holders. A subscription does not transfer ownership.
Limited Licence
Users receive only a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to view authorized content online for personal educational use.
No Copying
Without express written permission, users may not screenshot, screen-record, download, print, copy/paste, save, reproduce, distribute, transmit, republish, repost, systematically archive, or share site material.
Ordinary temporary browser caching required to display the site is not prohibited.
AI / Automated Use
Without express written permission, users may not scrape the site, crawl protected content, use automated extraction, build datasets from the site, bypass access controls, upload protected site content into AI systems for reproduction or extraction, use content for AI training or fine-tuning, use site material to develop another educational resource, or systematically reconstruct the website using automated tools.
Commercial / Institutional Use
A personal subscription does not permit classroom use, paid tutoring use, institutional training, paramedic-service training, commercial presentations, redistribution to students, or use in another paid educational product. Separate institutional licensing may be offered later.
Private Notes
Private notes are for personal study. Users retain ownership of their original notes. Users must not enter identifiable patient information or confidential clinical/employer information.
The Paramedic Playbook receives only the limited permissions necessary to store, process, back up, retrieve, and display those notes to the user. Private notes are not used for advertising.
Service Availability
The website may be unavailable temporarily for maintenance, updates, hosting outages, bugs, security incidents, third-party failures, or events beyond reasonable control. Continuous uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed. Short service interruptions do not automatically create a refund right, subject to applicable law.
External Links
External links are provided for reference and convenience. The Paramedic Playbook does not control or guarantee third-party sites, content, availability, security, or privacy practices.
Feedback
Users may voluntarily provide corrections, suggestions, or ideas. The Paramedic Playbook may use that feedback to improve the service without compensation or transfer of ownership rights to resulting improvements.
No Certification
Unless expressly stated otherwise, website use does not provide paramedic certification, Base Hospital certification, authorization for controlled acts, continuing-education credit, college/university credit, employer approval, or regulatory approval.
Suspension / Termination
Accounts may be suspended or terminated for material violations including account sharing, copying, redistribution, scraping, unauthorized AI use, access-control circumvention, fraud, security interference, or unauthorized commercial use. Serious violations may result in termination of monthly, annual, or lifetime access without refund, subject to applicable law.
Changes to Content
The Paramedic Playbook may modify, remove, update, reorganize, replace, or discontinue content or features.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available.” No guarantee is made that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, current, complete, secure, or suitable for a particular clinical, educational, employment, certification, or examination purpose.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Robert Prest and The Paramedic Playbook are not responsible for consequences resulting from use of website information instead of current official standards, medical direction, service policy, or appropriate clinical judgment.
This may include, where legally permitted, clinical decisions, patient-care outcomes, examination outcomes, academic outcomes, certification decisions, employment decisions, data loss, service interruptions, reliance on outdated content, and third-party services.
Nothing attempts to exclude liability where doing so is prohibited by law.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, users are responsible for losses or reasonable costs arising from their own material breach of these Terms, unlawful conduct, unauthorized copying, infringement, prohibited confidential information, fraud, or deliberate interference with the service.
Governing Law
Subject to mandatory rights that cannot be waived, these Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario.
Jurisdiction
Subject to mandatory consumer or jurisdictional rights, disputes are intended to be resolved through the courts of Ontario, Canada.
